OMEGA has opened the brand's eighth boutique in the Great Britain, at the recently launched Westfield Stratford, one of the largest urban shopping centres in Europe.
The new 790 square metre store will be the largest OMEGA boutique in Europe and one of the largest in the world. Situated close to the gateway for the Olympic Park for the London 2012 Games, it reinforces the historic partnership that OMEGA has enjoyed with the Olympic Games for 80 years, as it prepares once again to be the Official Timekeeper for the 25th time in the brand's history.
The new boutique is positioned over two floors and will offer the full range of OMEGA collections including watches, fine jewellery, fragrance and the recently introduced fine leather collection. A glass-fronted repair workshop will be on site with four watchmakers offering clients a fully-integrated service; the OMEGA VIP area on the first floor offers an intimate environment for clients. Guests will be welcomed into the spacious reception area on the ground floor, which is also home to the OMEGA exhibition space currently showcasing the History of Timekeeping exhibition. Watch, sport and technology fans can see some of the historical equipment used in past Olympic Games, including photoelectric cells, introduced at the London 1948 Games; these devices signalled the beginning of electronic timekeeping as we know it today. Many other timepieces which illustrate the development of the chronograph at Omega over the last 113 years are also exhibited as well as several stopwatches which have been used to time such important events as the Bannister sub-four minute mile.
Stephen Urquhart, president of OMEGA commented, “Our new boutique at Westfield Stratford makes a bold statement about our confidence in this market. We have always had a strong link with London and the UK and with the Games fast approaching, this new flagship store underlined our total commitment to our Olympic Games timekeeping role."
